The Winning Performance

By Brian Rowe

In 1999, when I first started selling Isuzu vehicles, the first vehicle I ever sold was the new Isuzu Hombre. Customer didn't come to the vehicle necessarily looking for a new vehicle. What they were looking for was reliable transportation at an affordable price. For the last seven years, I've been selling Isuzu vehicles as the best-bang-for-the-buck vehicle.

HOOD
The appeal of the Isuzu vehicle is that you get a great-looking vehicle at an affordable price. And when they're looking for exterior styling, interior comfort and convenience or towing and hauling, the i-370 will help you spend less and go farther.

The i-370 is powered by a Vortec 3700 inline five-cylinder engine.
It's an all-aluminum engine block, formed using the lost foam casting process. It's a technology that allows for complex designs, less waste material and less finishing required to help keep production costs low. Inline engines are also smoother and more powerful than V6 engines. With the five-cylinder engine, you get 242 horsepower, 242 foot-pounds of torque. That's more horsepower than the V6 engines used by the Toyota Tacoma or the Dodge Dakota. And at 16 miles to the gallon city, 22 miles to the gallon highway, it's not gonna cost a lot to get where you're going and you're gonna have all the power you need to get where you're going.

There's also a lot of nice features on the vehicle to help keep your maintenance and ownership costs lower on the vehicle. One of those features is Dex-Cool coolant, it's good for over 100,000 miles and it's environmentally friendly and biodegradable. You also have platinum-tipped spark plugs, which sit directly over the cylinders on the vehicle. They're good for up to over 100,000 miles to help keep your maintenance costs down as well.

All your fluid containers are in translucent containers so you can check them easily without having to open anything up. This has lightweight pistons and rods, with dual balance shafts, so it's a smooth rpm curve. You have your power all through your rpm curve. ‘

Another nice feature upfront up here is your bold stylish chrome grille. It's probably the first thing you see with the vehicle.

DRIVER’S SIDE
And if you like how the vehicle looks on the outside, wait until you get inside the vehicle. The vehicle's a four-door, cab truck with 40 inches of headroom and 42 inches of legroom, sure to accommodate all but the largest drivers comfortably.

But first thing you notice when sitting is the bold stylish gauges with the Driver Information Center. Your Driver Information Center provides key vehicle feedback on information such as traction system on the vehicle, your ABS lights, coolant, fuel levels and also the Tire Pressure Monitoring System.

Tire Pressure Monitoring System, something new lately. What this feature does is, using radio and sensor technology, provides a signal that goes from the tires to your information center and detects if any of your pressure's off. When the pressure's off, it automatically sends a signal, letting you know that some information is off on the vehicle and you need to correct it to proceed. Once you correct the tire pressure, that light goes off again.

Another nice feature on the vehicle, new for this year, is the chrome finish around the gauge cluster and the speakers, which adds to the styling in the vehicle.

You also have your daytime running lamps, which come on automatically and the sensor on your dash that automatically adjusts the lights on the vehicle for poor driving conditions and visibility. As soon as it gets dark, automatically it turns your lights on for you and automatically turn your lights off for you at the end. The vehicle's equipped with a tilt steering.

This vehicle's also equipped with the bucket seats up front and center console for more comfort while you're driving. Another feature up front here is your cargo on/off lamp. The cargo lamp on this vehicle turns on a cargo light at the back of the vehicle to help illuminate your cargo area.

CARGO AREA
The cargo area of the vehicle, it's a five-foot bed, it's all weld, steel cargo box, with double wall construction, which adds to the durability ad reliability of the vehicle. You also have the chrome bumper in the back of the vehicle that ties in to the front and adds to the styling of the vehicle.

All the Isuzu i-370's come standard with a two-tier, multi-tier loading system. What that means is that you can adjust the bed of this vehicle for multiple layers of cargo. There's notches on both sides of the cargo bed that allows for a four-by-eight sheet of plywood to be used to separate your cargo so you can separate things. That combined with your cargo tie-downs allows you a lot of options as far as loading and unloading your cargo. Another nice feature is your adjustable tailgate. The tailgate has two positions, by locking it in a 55-degree angle, provides support for your longer materials. So, if you need to haul sheets of drywall, plywood, anything like that, you have that available to you. Or, you can leave it down if you have larger items, such as furniture or anything like that.

I mentioned this is a five-foot cargo bed. Payload capacity on this vehicle is a little over 1,300 pounds and you have 37 cubic feet of cargo area. What you can't fit inside, you can always tow. This vehicle has a tow capacity of up to 4,000 pounds.

You can't fit it in the back, you still have room in the back of the vehicle here. As I mentioned, this is a four-door. So, the back converts easily for storing passengers or storing cargo.

PASSENGER SIDE
This is an LS vehicle. The LS Package is a step up from your Preferred Equipment Package. The LS Package offers you dual-folding, black power mirrors and body side molding on the vehicle [and] the upgraded cloth interior, with center console.

Another standard feature on this vehicle are seven by 15-inch aluminum-alloy wheels.

Another standard feature on this vehicle that you won't find on a lot of competition is the Isuzu warranty. Isuzu’s warranty is probably one of the most comprehensive warranties available on any truck made in the U.S. It's a three-year, 50,000-mile full comprehensive [limited] warranty, with zero deductible.

It also has a seven-year, 75,000-mile powertrain warranty. That powertrain warranty is broken down into two parts, primary and secondary. The primary warranty goes for five years, 60,000 miles at a zero deductible. It covers your powertrain features, as well as some portions that aren't normally considered part of your powertrain, such as your fuel pump, water pump.

The second part of that warranty is the balance of that seven-year, seventy-five. That part of the warranty is only transferable to immediate family and is not available on fleet vehicles. That covers a little bit more of your basic powertrain features. It does have a $100 deductible per occurrence. And your normal things associated with the powertrain, the engine, the transmission, all the internally lubricated parts.

Now, Isuzu could have stopped right there, but like I said, with that kind of warranty, you also receive a seven-year, 75,000-mile roadside assistance. Just like AAA, the car runs out of gas, you lock your keys in the car, be towed for any reason, that's all for free for seven years, 75,000 miles. You also have a six-year, 100,000 warranty, for perforations from corrosion.

Adding a warranty like this in some of the competition may cost as much as $2,000. With Isuzu, it's just all part of the added value you get. For years, Isuzu customers have been coming back to the great experience they've had on their past vehicles. And new owners are attracted by the incredible value Isuzu represents. And whether you're looking for exterior styling, interior comfort and convenience, and towing and hauling, the i-370 will help you spend less and go farther. 

The Smart Choice

By Tim Britton

I appreciate the opportunity to be here today. And I really appreciate the opportunity to present such a great vehicle, the 2007 i-370. This is a vehicle that IntelliChoice has named the 2006 “Smart Choice” and a vehicle that has swiftly made a name for itself based upon its exceptional value and superior safety features.

HOOD
Now one of the first things you notice about the Isuzu i-370 are the bold styling cues. You see the large chrome grille emblazoned with the Isuzu logo; also, the dual function headlamps, both your standard automatic halogen lamps and daytime running lamps. These are great to help maintain a better presence amongst other vehicles in the road. Those lights will be on anytime the vehicle is in gear. Down here, you see fog lamps. Those are a wonderful item to have during inclement weather conditions. These are going to help you identify that stalled vehicle on the side of the road, or possibly that animal preparing to dart from the brush, hopefully identifying a problem before it becomes a problem.

Now, with no further ado, I'll unveil the powerplant behind this magnificent machine. This is the Vortec 3700. This is a 3.7-liter, dual overhead cam, 20-valve inline five-cylinder engine [that] produces a whopping 242 horsepower and 242 foot-pounds of torque. Now that's more power than a base Ford Ranger, Toyota Tacoma or Nissan Frontier; it puts out a great amount of power.

The i-Series trucks accomplish this task through the use of a few different systems and components, the first of which we'll have time to talk about today is the aluminum block. The aluminum block is lightweight, helps keep the overall weight of the vehicle down and also, because it's aluminum, it's going to help dissipate heat faster, which is going to help your engine to run cooler and thereby more efficiently.

These trucks were also upgraded for 2007 by featuring a new camshaft phaser, which helps to reduce vibration. Also, that camshaft phaser's going to help the engine to burn cleaner than its predecessor. Another great feature is the coil-on-plug ignition system. This means that there is a coil and spark plug in the top of each cylinder. This is going to enable the engine to burn the gasoline in each cylinder more thoroughly, more efficiently, giving you more bang for your buck. And that's going to help you get that 242 horsepower.

Now let's talk for a moment about controlling all 242 horses. The standard braking system on the i-370 consists of front disc, ventilated, power-assist brakes and rear drum brakes. This braking system on the whole is capable of generating an enormous amount of safe, predictable braking power. This means that even with a maximum load of 1338 pounds or towing a maximum of 4000 pounds behind the truck, you're going to have no problem bringing your truck to a safe, complete stop.

DRIVER’S SIDE
Now, down here are the 15-inch aluminum alloy rims. You will notice a chrome valve stem. That's not just for looks. It's part of a tire-pressure monitoring system or TPMS. This TPMS system monitors each individual wheel via a wheel-mounted radio receiver. It beams that information to a receiver inside the vehicle. And any significant deflation of five psi or more will trip a light on the dashboard to, tell you you need to get to a service station and pump your tires up, okay? Underinflated tires are the number-one reason you don't achieve your optimum fuel economy, which on this vehicle is 16 miles per gallon in the city and 22 miles per gallon on the highway. Also, as we all know, flat tires aren't safe tires.

CARGO AREA
So follow me around here to the rear of the i-370. Underneath the cargo bed here, you'll notice there is a full-size spare. And it's great to have on a four-wheel drive vehicle. You need that full-size spare and it's good to know where it is, in case you have to tell the tow truck driver, because you'll never have to change your own flat tire. Isuzu includes seven years/75,000 miles worth of roadside assistance. And it has [included roadside assistance] with every vehicle it’s sold since its inception in the U.S. market in 1981. And they don't just cover flat tires. If you run out of fuel, lock yourself out, if you need a tow or if you need a jump, Isuzu will be there for you. That is a lot of peace of mind.

Now, if you look inside the bed here, this tailgate's a great feature. We have a strap here that allows you to position the tailgate from either an 89 or a 55-degree angle. And this is going to enable you to slide plywood with ease. So you can see it's very versatile. Also, the bed here is double steel-wall construction, so it's going to allow you to transport that maximum load with very little stress. Inside the bed, we have eight cargo tie-downs with two on each corner. This provides a safe anchor point for an awkward load. So if you have something that sits upright, maybe a hot water heater, something you need to transport home, you're going to be able to safely tie that down. It almost guarantees a safer ride both for you and your cargo.

PASSENGER SIDE
Now everything that we've talked about up until this point today has been standard equipment on the i-370. Let's talk a little bit about some of the options here. There are two different option packages available on the i-370. There's the LS and a Limited model. This particular vehicle happens to be an LS. This is going to include things like power mirrors, power windows, power door locks and keyless entry.

Inside the vehicle here we have obviously a cloth seating surface. We have a single CD/MP3 player with both auto-volume and RDS or Radio Data System. Now auto-volume is a great feature. This allows you to keep your eyes on the road and your hands on the wheel by automatically turning up the radio as the speed of the vehicle increases. No matter how quiet a vehicle it is, you're going to experience some level of road noise. And this is going to allow you to keep your eyes on the wheel and your hands on the road—or vice versa!

But back here, we have a full folding back seat, so if you have a box or something that you need to throw in the back there, it's not going to be a problem for you. You won't have to dirty up any of your upholstery. You also have a nice, large center console. And the i-370 boasts a very advanced airbag system. It has a pressure-sensitive passenger seat, which allows the vehicle to know when the airbag is needed in case of a front-end collision or a side impact collision.

Head curtain side impact airbags are located here in the A-pillar. This is going to protect your driver, front passenger and both outboard passengers in the rear seat. As you can see, no shortage of creature comforts here.

Now earlier in the presentation I touched on the warranty briefly. I'd like to tell you a little bit more about this valuable piece of standard equipment. Isuzu offers a three-year/50,000-mile basic warranty. This covers everything on the vehicle but the wearable items, things like brake pads, rotors, wiper blades. We offer seven-year/75,000-mile roadside assistance, a seven-year/75,000-mile limited power-train warranty covering all the major components of the engine and drivetrain, all the expensive stuff, and a six-year/100,000-mile anti-corrosion protection warranty. This covers rust formed on the body of the vehicle from the inside out.

So you get all that warranty, all this vehicle and me for a relatively small investment. You would have to agree, the i-370 is indeed a smart choice, and I hope that it's also your choice. I invite you to take a test drive as soon as possible. I know that you won't be disappointed. And again, thank you for your time. 

Priceless Value

By Joseph Saines

Over 90 years, Isuzu has manufactured and built well-built and reliable trucks and S.U.V.s Just last year, the 2006 models of the i-280 and the Ascender were voted IntelliChoice best picks in several categories. The i-370 continues this formula for success by positioning itself as one of the most powerful and safest mid-size trucks on the market.

HOOD
The i-370 features a Vortec 3700 inline five cylinder engine that, just by the nature of the inline design, is smoother and more powerful than most of the competition. It produces 242 horsepower at 5600 rpm and 242 foot-pounds of torque at 4600 rpm, a whopping amount of power for a vehicle with an engine of this size.

In addition to that, multipoint sequential fuel injection, variable exhaust valve timing and drive-by-wire throttle control all combine to give this engine some of the [best] fuel mileage ratings of any in this competitive group. With a mileage rating of 16 miles per gallon in the city and 22 on the highway, the i-370 outperforms the 2006 models of the Dodge Dakota, the Nissan Frontier and several others in this competitive group. In addition, the engine is made of aircraft-grade aluminum alloy, which, of course, as you know, is lighter, more durable than the old cast-iron block engines and, also, lasts, quite a bit longer. So, with all of these systems working together, this engine outlasts and outperforms the competition.

Daytime running lights and fog lights are standard and crumple zones [are] located throughout the front. Crumple zones, which are notches in the vehicle's frame, [are] located throughout the front compartment, help this vehicle achieve some of the, best crash test ratings in this competitive group. With a crash test frontal rating of five stars, it is just, it just flat out outperforms and gives the owner an extra feeling of safely surviving a severe accident.

With a high-stance front suspension, the i-370 has a ground clearance of eight point seven inches. Everything about this mid-size truck yells that it is a powerful performer in the 4x4 market and yet it does that without compromising ride quality.

Tubular front stabilizer bars, coil springs in the front, and gas charged shock absorbers prepare it to perform on the four-wheel drive. And yet at the same, as I mentioned, it gives the owner a very smooth car-like ride in the city and on the highway.

The 4x4 system for the i-370 is excellent. And it's the system that is made exclusively by Isuzu Motors Limited. The controls for the 4x4 system are located just to the right of the driver's information center and are operated just by the touch of a button. The vehicle does have to be situated still in order to go into four-wheel low. However, it can be engaged into four-wheel high at any speed while driving on city streets, a tremendous advantage for this four-wheel drive system. Another thing about the four-wheel drive system is that in neutral setting, the owner can actually tow the vehicle on all four wheels behind another vehicle, of course, eliminating the cost of having to purchase a dolly or something along that line. So, once again, another advantage over the competition in the money saving factor.

DRIVER’S SIDE
The Driver's Information Center is just to the left of the four-wheel-drive system and is extensive. It gives the owner complete and total feedback on the vehicle’s operating and safety features, so that he has time, of course, if there's anything wrong, to correct it and keep the vehicle operating in tip-top shape. Examples of this are going to be, of course, low fuel indicator, ABS warning light, service engine soon, and new for 2007 low tire pressure. This particular safety system is operated by a new safety system called T.P.M.S., or Tire Pressure Monitoring System. What tire pressure monitoring does is position sensors on each of the tire and wheel assemblies and sends a warning back to the lamp on the driver's information center when it detects that tire pressure is low. And it'll stay on until the pressure is corrected. As you know, tires that run low on pressure corrupt fuel economy and can result in a flat. This vehicle lets you know what’s happening with your tires before that happens and gives you a chance to correct the situation before it turns into a dangerous hassle.

CARGO AREA
The cargo bed on the i-370 is just flat out amazing. It measures over 61 inches and has a payload capacity of 1338 pounds. Being made of double wall steel construction, with eight tie-down hooks located throughout the bed of the vehicle, it's able to handle the most demanding of loads. It also features, and further adding to load versatility, a two-tier locking tailgate that allows you to position the tailgate at 55 degrees or at 89 degrees, once again adding to the versatility of the cargo bed in your loads. Add to that a towing capacity of 4,000 pounds and, once again, we just leave the competition in the dust.

PASSENGER SIDE
The i-370 seats five adults comfortably, two in the front with captain's chairs and three adults in the back. Now, in the back, you have a 60/40 split, where you can fold the back seats down in order to maximize cab space. In addition, the i-370 comes standard with the LS package. The LS package, of course, gives you power windows and locks, keyless remote entry, a six-speaker in-dash CD that also operates MP3s, a center console and also the upgraded cloth. Rubberized mats and carpeting are also included with this particular package. The airbag system with the i-370 is fantastic. Dual stage is featured in this vehicle. And what dual stage does is that it deploys the airbags according to impact severity, thereby making the deployment safer. In addition, airbag suppression is used on the passenger side and the passenger side is not activated until someone of appropriate weight sits in that seat.

Also featured on the i-370 are side curtain airbags that also enhance the impact rating on the side. ABS brakes are also standard on all Isuzu models. With its three-year, 50,000-mile general warranty, and seven-year, 75,000-mile powertrain warranty, the i-370 has one of the best warranties in its competitive group.

Add to that a seven-year, 75,000-mile roadside assistance program that gives you flat tire service, dead battery service, key-locked-in-vehicle service, out-of-fuel service and towing service for up to seven years, 75,000 miles. We just offer so much more. In addition to that, a six-year, 100,000 mile anti-perforation from corrosion warranty is included, that will protect the vehicle's exterior from anything from road salt to desert sand.

Performance that leaves the competition in the dust. Proven durability over a proven track record of Isuzu product history. Safety ratings and crash test results that at the end of the day assure the buyer that they have the best possible chance of surviving an unforeseen accident. That's real value that you can't put a dollar amount on. Value that is truly priceless. And that's what we bring to the table for 2007. Thank you. 
